A Skills Review (which is similar to an initial Skills Scan but conducted part way through a learning program instead of at the start) is an opportunity to assess and record the progress made by a learner against the competencies for their program. This process also helps to ensure that the support they are receiving for their learning remains tailored to their needs.

The Skills Review is conducted as part of a scheduled review, and in order to complete a scheduled review you will need to have:

This article will guide you through the process of completing a Skills Review for a learner.

Step 1: Click Learners in the left-hand menu.
Step 2: Find the learner in the table and click Open Program in the Actions column.
Step 3: From the Learners Program, click the Reviews tab.
Step 4: Locate the relevant Review and click Start Review in the Actions column.

Note: If there is no option to Start Review, you may need to schedule a review first.  See Scheduling a Learner Review for more details.

Step 5: Once in the review, click on the Skills Review tab.

You will see the previous scores from either the initial Skills Scan (if this is the learner's first review) or from the previous skills review. For each listed competency, assess the learner's current level by entering the appropriate score in the This Skills Review column (using a value between 0 and 10, where 0 is the lowest level of competency and 10 is the highest).

Step 6: Once you have completed the Skills Review, work through the remaining tabs:

  • Responses - answer each of the questions in the spaces provided.
  • Functional Skills - use the space on this tab to record any progress the learner is making towards maths, English, and ICT.
  • Attendees - move the attendees from the Invited table (left) to the Attended table (right) if they attended the review (as a minimum, at least the learner and one other attendee must attend the review in order to be able to save or complete the review).
  • To Do - click the + Add To Do button to add any action items from this review, or click Edit in the Actions column of the To Do table to update or complete any pre-existing To Do action items.
  • Attachments - drag and drop or click browse to add any relevant attachments to this review.
  • Comments - add comments (on behalf of all attendees) and tick the Verify checkbox to confirm your own comments. All other attendees will receive an in-app notification asking them to verify their comments (they will have an opportunity to amend any comments added by you on their behalf during the verify process).

If you are not ready to complete the review, you can save it at any stage, and return to it at a later date.

Step 7: Once all of the required information has been entered, click the Complete Review button.
Step 8: A confirmation message will then appear – click the Yes button to proceed and finalise the review, or click No to go back.

Once you have completed the Skills Review, the Completed date will show in the Reviews table and you can create a PDF of the review by clicking Generate in the Actions column which is then available for you to preview or download.

Next Steps:

The progress score from this review is now visible on the learner's Progress tab in one of the On Track, At Risk, or Intervention zones.
